Newark, DE….New Castle County Councilman David L. Tackett was recently awarded the 2009 C.P.A.W. Award (Crime Prevention Area Watch) in appreciation for his support in crime prevention and public safety.

The CPAW Award is presented annually to an individual, business or group that has the intent and purpose of the welfare, safety and security of not only our communities in NCC but also all residents of NCC.

This year there were 28 nominations sent in and Councilman Tackett was selected by his peers.

CPAW is a group of citizens that act as community “patrols” strictly designed to act as the “eyes and ears” for the New Castle County Police. Their motto is “Welfare, Safety and Security for the Citizens of New Castle County”.

Councilman Tackett, “I am honored to receive this award and look forward to continuing my great relationship with the men and women of CPAW so that children can play and a person can just sit on their front porch in a safe community.”
