Senior Roll Call

FROM: Councilman David Tackett
TO: Residents in the 11th District

September 6, 2007

Does your community have a senior citizen, or do you know of a senior citizen, that may need to be checked on from time to time.

If so, I want to let you know about a program we have in the county called the Senior Roll Call Lifeline that will provide daily telephone reassurance for seniors in New Castle County.

If the senior subscribes to our service, they will receive a computerized telephone call everyday to check on them. If they don’t answer the call, or if the line is busy, Roll Call will call back in a few minutes. After several tries, the computer will signal an alert. A volunteer will then contact the people who have previously been designated to check on that person’s well being. In an emergency, police will be dispatched immediately. This will enable the senior to maintain independence while assuring family and friends they are being checked upon every day.

If the person who has subscribed to this service will be away on vacation, they simply call the Roll Call office and let them know how long they will be away. Senior Roll Call is flexible. A person call subscribe to the program on an ongoing basis or for just a short time, such as a few weeks after a hospital stay. You may now be asking “What does this cost?”

It is free and there is no equipment to purchase. Simply call 395-8159 to enroll. Feel free to call or e-mail my office with any questions or concerns you may have.

Sincerely,

Councilman David L. Tackett
